Hi guys, I hope you’re enjoying the last few days of 2013 with your nearest and dearest. It’s so close to New Year’s 2014, I can almost taste the champagne!
Every year, I’m totally unprepared and sometimes feel the evening is a little overhyped. This year however, I’m off to a wine bar in the city, which was organised by a friend, so all I have to do is show up. My kind of evening!
Regardless of whether I’m at a house party, at home or at a bar or restaurant somewhere, I always love to dress up and accessorise with something glittery so I can squeeze the last drop out of festive fashion before I knuckle down with my plans for the year ahead. Whether they stick or not, that’s another story.Last week I was contacted by ModCloth.com to take part in their Uniquely You Campaign. I was given an opportunity to create a look using some ModCloth pieces based around the Committee Celebration Dress which is featured above. I decided to make this a New Year’s Eve themed look, using the dress as a classic chic canvas for a mix of accessories that tell a story, for a memorable night.

- I love the sweetheart neckline of this dress and love the belt that gives a classic LBD design some colour.
- I choose the ‘What Are You Waiting’ camera necklace, as New Year’s Eve is about memories; whether photographed or not, this time next year you will remember who was there with you, by your side when you welcomed 2014 and all it’s possibilities.
- I always like to have an unusual accessory in tow and the colouring and print of this ‘Best in Class’ clutch are both eye-catching and complementary to the committee dress. You want to make an impression, of course.
- These ‘Cube As Can Be’ stud earrings are a classic and simple touch without busying the necklace, clutch, belt or shoes.
- Jay Gatsby was known for his incredible parties. Pay homage to his sophistication and legendary celebrations (or to Gatsby’s creator, F. Scott Fitzgerald!) on New Year’s Eve with this Gatsby iPhone case.
- Red lipstick always makes any looks more glamorous, while making your teeth and skin look brighter (hiding the signs of days of alcohol consumption and canapés.) This Lime Crime lipstick in ‘Retrofurturist’ is a striking and timeless shade. It can be enjoyed every year – just like New Year’s Eve.
- Dance your way into 2014 with these ‘Glitter Miss Sunshine’ heels. A festive touch for twinkle toes.
- Nothing’s worse than starting off the New Year with a limp. Keep yourself comfortable after hours of dancing with comfortable (yet stylish!) black lace ‘World of Wonderment’ flats.
Thank you to ModStylist Amy for this opportunity, and Happy New Year to you all. Have a great night, be happy and safe!
